  • 8 oz Elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup Butter
  • ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions
 

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • 2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  • 3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
  • 4. Gradually whisk in the milk, and cook until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
  • 5. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 6. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, then transfer to a baking dish.
  • 7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese sauce.
